Rhythm Magazine (UK) DVD Review - December 2007

Introducing a remarkable drummer

Cerebral palsy hasn't stopped Hewitt from drumming, and this DVD introduces his inspirational techniques. 14 minutes, though, doesn't do him justice (DW).

3/5 stars.

During the DVD I play and talk about life as a drummer with Cerebral Palsy. It also shows brief clips from various performances I have done over the past few years, and some techniques I am working on to make things a bit easier.

Was filmed at Billy Hydes Drumcraft in Sydney in January 2005.

Vic Firth PDT Program

[Top] [Index]
I am excited to announce that I have been offered a spot on the Vic Firth Education Team in their PDT (Private Drum Teacher) Program.

This will help me spread the word even more about drumming with physical challenges, also will allow me to talk to other teachers and give them a better understanding of how to handle a student with a disability.

If anyone wants more information on the PDT program, click http://www.vicfirth.com/education/EPoverview.html

The report was to promote the Club Wild Opera House shows, and International Day for People with a Disability.

Sidiki Conde African Drum Workshop - Melbourne - November 2005

[Top] [Index]
On Tuesday 22nd November at 6:15am Ally and I boarded a plane to Melbourne. We were guests of Club Wild, attending African drum workshops being led by Guinean percussionist and dancers Sidiki Conde and Naby Bangoura.
The workshops went for 3 days and wound up with a performance at the Club Wild Dance Party at North Melbourne Town Hall on November 25.

Sidiki is an amazing performer, he got a muscle virus at 14 and lost the use of his legs, however he is an extremely talented drummer and dancer. He dances on his hands. Sidiki and Naby were an absolute pleasure to work with.

I also was invited to do a guest spot with the Club Wild Allstars.

Channel 7 "Sunrise" Interview - October 2005

On Tuesday 4th October 2005, I did an interview with Monique from Channel 7's Sunrise program.

They filmed me talking for about 10 minutes just above Bondi Beach. This was for Monique's segment on the show called "Everyday People".

Not sure of the airing time yet, but keep tuned and I will let everyone know as soon as I know.

For those people outside Australia, Sunrise is a national morning breakfast show on the 7 Network, very similar to NBC Today.
